Arusha National Park offers diverse habitats including forests home to black-and-white colobus monkeys and excellent birding opportunities, the park features the Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes and Tululusia waterfalls. It is the Northern Tanzania park offering walking safaris, where visitors can explore on foot with an armed ranger and enjoy game drives around Momella Lakes.
Depart early in the morning from Arusha or Moshi and enjoy a comfortable, scenic drive toward the park, with beautiful views of Mount Meru rising majestically in the distance. Upon arrival, you’ll have a brief orientation from your guide, who will introduce you to the park’s unique landscapes, wildlife and activities for the day.
Begin your adventure with a morning game drive through the park’s diverse habitats, including open savannah, acacia woodlands, and lush forested areas. Keep an eye out for giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs and playful colobus monkeys moving through the trees. The peaceful atmosphere and fewer crowds make this park especially enjoyable for a relaxed and intimate wildlife experience.
Around midday, stop for a picnic lunch near the scenic Momella Lakes, a collection of shallow alkaline lakes that often attract flocks of flamingos and other water birds. You may also spot hippos resting in the water as you relax and take in the tranquil surroundings.
After lunch, continue with a leisurely game drive, visiting additional viewpoints and enjoying the park’s varied scenery, including rolling hills and crater landscapes. In the late afternoon, begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving with wonderful memories of a day filled with nature, wildlife, and breathtaking views.
