Endless plains | Big cats | Great Migration

Serengeti National Park Tanzania

Serengeti is not one place - it is a living map that changes with season, rain and animal movement.

Serengeti is much more than one wide plain. The best area depends on your travel month, how many nights you have and whether your priority is migration, big cats, photography or a slower safari rhythm. Good planning puts your camp close to the wildlife area that makes sense for your dates.

From our team on the ground

Serengeti rewards patience. The guide who stops, switches off the engine and reads animal behaviour often gives you a better sighting than the guide who keeps chasing radio calls.

Why this destination is special

The feeling of Serengeti National Park

Serengeti is beautiful because it feels endless, but the real magic is in the small details: a cheetah using a termite mound as a lookout, lion cubs hidden near a kopje, elephants moving across golden grass, hyenas calling before sunrise, and the light changing every few minutes. Central Serengeti is strong year-round because of the Seronera River. Northern Serengeti becomes powerful in July to October when herds gather near the Mara River. Ndutu is excellent in calving season when the plains are full of young wildebeest and predators.

The central plains glow gold in the late afternoon.

Kopjes create perfect lion and leopard country.

Northern Serengeti feels wilder and more remote near the Mara River.

During migration season, the sound of thousands of hooves is something guests remember for life.

Local planning advice

What we want you to know before you come

One Serengeti night is too rushed

If you drive in, arrive late, sleep once and leave, you have technically visited Serengeti but not really felt it. The park deserves time.

Season decides the best region

For river crossings, we plan Northern Serengeti. For calving, we focus Ndutu and southern plains. For reliable predators any time, we love Seronera.

Early mornings matter

Predators are more active before the heat. A sunrise game drive is often worth waking up early for, especially if you love cats.

Your guide's patience is part of the price

Good sightings are not only luck. A professional guide reads tracks, birds, alarm calls, shade, water and animal direction.

Comfort changes the safari

A well-positioned camp reduces wasted driving and gives you more hours where wildlife actually is.

Safety first, comfort always

How we take care of you

We want you to enjoy the destination, but we also want you to feel protected, informed and never abandoned. From the first message to the last transfer, our team explains what to expect, prepares the right timing and stays honest about conditions.

  • Private or small-group 4x4 safari vehicles with pop-up roofs for safer viewing and photography.
  • Professional driver-guides who keep respectful distance from wildlife and avoid unsafe crowding.
  • Unlimited drinking water during game drives and picnic lunch planning in designated areas.
  • Flexible routing based on weather, road conditions and wildlife movement.
  • Clear hotel/camp arrival planning so guests do not feel lost after long game-drive days.

How to include Serengeti National Park in your Tanzania trip

For first timers

Combine Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro in 5-6 days.

For migration

Choose the region by month, not by package title.

For photographers

Add extra Serengeti nights and request flexible early starts.

For comfort

Choose camps close to the wildlife area you are targeting.

Helpful answers before enquiry

Serengeti National Park FAQs

How many days do I need in Serengeti?

Two nights is the minimum I would advise for most guests. Three or more nights gives you better chances, less rushing and more time for both sunrise and afternoon game drives.

Can I see the river crossing on a short safari?

Possible, but not guaranteed. River crossings need patience and the right location, usually Northern Serengeti from July to October.

Is Central Serengeti good all year?

Yes, Seronera is one of the most reliable areas for year-round wildlife and predator sightings.

Should I fly or drive to Serengeti?

Driving gives scenery and lower cost. Flying saves time and is useful for luxury or shorter trips.
