Flexible Tanzania travel policy
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
Plans can change. Our first aim is to help you move your trip and protect as much of your booking value as possible.
This Tanzania safari cancellation policy explains how written cancellations, rescheduling requests, supplier costs and approved refunds are handled.
Last updated: 5 September 2026
1. How to request a change
Send every cancellation or rescheduling request in writing by email or WhatsApp. The effective date is the date we receive your written request.
Please include the lead traveller's name, original travel dates, itinerary and invoice number, if available.
2. Kilimanjaro rescheduling
If you cannot travel, your initial deposit may be transferred to a new Kilimanjaro departure within two years of the original start date.
The new date is subject to route availability, park and supplier rules, crew planning and any price difference. Amounts already paid to a non-transferable third party may not be carried forward.
Contact us as early as possible. Early notice gives us the best chance of moving every part of your booking.
3. Safari rescheduling
If the lodges, camps and other suppliers approve the change, your initial deposit may be transferred to a new safari beginning within one year of the original start date.
Domestic flights, peak-season rooms and special services may have stricter rules. Any non-transferable supplier charge and any price difference for the new dates will be explained before the change is confirmed.
4. Changing dates or itinerary
A requested change is subject to availability. Seasonal rates, park fees, taxes, accommodation and transport prices may differ on the new date. You are responsible only for the confirmed difference and any non-refundable cost caused by your requested change.
A rescheduled booking cannot normally be transferred to another traveller unless we and all affected suppliers agree in writing.
5. Cancellation instead of rescheduling
If you prefer to cancel, any refund is calculated only after we confirm the recoverable amount and any non-refundable charges already committed to parks, permits, accommodation, flights, payment providers and other suppliers.
For a valid reason such as illness, injury, bereavement, a serious family emergency or another documented event, you may ask us to review a refund instead of rescheduling. We may request reasonable supporting information.
6. How an approved refund is calculated
An approved refund is based on the money we can recover after deducting costs connected to your booking. These may include non-refundable park or government charges; accommodation, airline, ferry or activity cancellation fees; payment-processing and bank charges; exchange-rate differences; and services already provided or specifically purchased.
We will explain the calculation before completing the refund. We do not promise a refund amount until supplier costs and recoveries have been confirmed.
7. Approved refund timing
Once the refundable amount has been confirmed, agreed with you and any required supplier funds have been recovered, we normally instruct the refund within 14 business days. Banks, card providers and international transfers may take additional time. Where possible, payment is returned to the original payer using the original payment method.
8. No-shows and late arrival
If you do not arrive and do not tell us before the trip begins, suppliers may treat the booking as a no-show and charge the full amount. We will still try to assist, but rescheduling or refunding unused services may not be possible.
Costs caused by missed international or domestic travel, including extra accommodation or transport, are the traveller's responsibility unless caused by us.
9. Unused services after the trip starts
No refund is normally available for services you choose not to use after departure, including meals, accommodation, activities, transfers or an early return. Safety-related route or itinerary changes are handled according to the circumstances and supplier rules.
10. If Serengeti Wild Tours cancels
If we cancel a confirmed service for a reason within our control and cannot provide a suitable alternative, we will refund the amount paid for that unused service. We are not responsible for unrelated losses, such as international airfare that we did not issue.
If cancellation is caused by severe weather, government or park restrictions, epidemics, civil unrest, road closures, airline disruption or another event outside our reasonable control, we will first seek rescheduling, supplier credit or a practical alternative. Any cash refund is limited to funds recovered after unavoidable third-party costs.
11. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive insurance covering trip cancellation, interruption, medical care, evacuation, missed travel and baggage. Mountain insurance should cover high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation at the altitude of your route.
